The NetCom industrial device serial servers conveniently and transparently connect up to 16 serial devices to an
Ethernet Serial Server LAN, allowing you to network your existing serial devices with only basic configuration. Data transmission between the serial and
Ethernet Serial Server interfaces is bi-directional.
They
provide communication to RS232, RS422 and RS485 equipment over a 10/100Mbps NIC Ethernet Serial Server
network. The distance limitation of RS232 is
overcome by installing the NetCom close to the RS232 device.
The network interface is
100Mbit/s Ethernet Serial Server on all cable operated models. The transport is implemented
via TCP/IP protocol. Therefore control is available via Ethernet Serial Server, Intranet and
Internet. The supplied driver software hides the network transfer from your
applications. Software applications using standard COM ports need no change to
operate via NetCom through the virtual serial ports.
These devices come with a steel case well
suited for industrial environments.
PRO versions provide completely secured communication
for configuration and to the attached serial device, this is implemented by
openVPN tunnel software.
In addition to allowing serial devices to get networked, any host (PC Server or
Workstation) without network access can also access remote serial device via
adding NetCom devices to the existing serial port. PRO versions can be
configured over Driver Panels, WEB Browser, serial Port, Telnet, SNMP and serves
as a transparent serial channel without platform and distance limitation.
The NetCom Mini is an industrial-strength network-based
serial device server for connecting one RS232 device like CNC, PLC, weighting
scale, scanner and other directly to the 10/100Mbps Ethernet Serial Server network running
TCP/IP. The small metal case allows to mount NetCom Mini in a niche.
NetCom Mini is configured over Web Browser. Windows detects NetCom Mini using
UPNP function, the NetCom UPnP Manager also detects them in the LAN using UPNP.
This UPnP Manager will also open the Web Browser to configure the NetCom Mini.
The NetCom Mini serves as a transparent serial channel without operating system
and distance limitation. The serial port redirection uses the protocol known as
RFC2217. This is well known and tested for many use cases, so NetCom Mini is a
possible extension for existing installations. The NetCom UPnP Manager also
installs devices communicating via the Internet.
